The History of AMITA CORP.

1932
Shintaro Amita became a member of the Trading Business Association in
Kobe and began merchandising damascene. -
1941
The business was suspended due to the Second World War. -
1946
Resumed the business in Kyoto as AMITA Damascene Factory. -
1947
Reorganized AMITA Damascene Factory to AMITA DAMASCENE Co., Ltd. -
1952
Established the AMITA Damascene Craftsmen Training School.
Designated as an export retail shop (tax-free shop) by the Ministry of Finance. -
1954
By the Ministry of Finance, AMITA DAMASCENE Co., Ltd. was authorized to conduct money exchange business. -
1955
AMITA DAMASCENE Co., Ltd. renamed AMITA TRADING Co., Ltd. -
1960
The manufacturing department moved to New Nishikyo Factory. -
1966
AMITA TRADING Co., Ltd. renamed AMITA JEWELRY CORP. -
1967
Constructed KYOTO HANDICRAFT CENTER Building and relocated the head office. -

New Takano Factory completed. -

Restaurant Grill Craft opened. -

Manufacturing department became independent as AMITA METALWORK MANUFACTURING CORP. (Merged with AMITA CORP. in 1981 and became independent again in 2005.) -
1978
AMITA JEWELRY CORP. was renamed AMITA CORP. -
1981
AMITA CORP. was designated as the official trader on the production with the logo for the International Association of Lions Club. -
1982
Established New Kisshoin Factory and relocated from Takano factory. -
1987
AMITA main building was built and started the business for Japanese tourists with restaurant and souvenir shop. -
1991
Changed to the new corporate logo. -
1993
Established DAMASCENE STUDIO CORP. to specialize in damascene department independent. -
1995
Constructed the AMITA main building (Current East Building of KYOTO HANDICRAFT CENTER) -
2005
Manufacturing department was divided and merged with DAMASCENE STUDIO CORP. Later renamed as AMITA MCF CORP. -
2006
Opened a workshop cafe and Craftsmen's Workshop EN-YA. -

The store in New Miyako Hotel was renovated and opened as KYOTO CRAFT MART New Miyako Hotel store. -

The store in Tobu Hotel Airport was renovated and opened as KYOTO CRAFT MART. -
2012
Renamed the main building of AMITA as KYOTO HANDICRAFT CENTER East building. -

Opened a restaurant SHOAMI -
2020
Opened a book store and space SAIKA and a restaurant TAKUMI SHOAMI. -

Started the business of Cross-Border E-Commerce.
